Welcome to the website of the Chair of Electrochemical Process Engineering
We focus on the materials science aspects of electrochemical energy conversion and storage. This includes fuel cells, redox flow batteries and lithium-ion batteries, the production of green hydrogen and valuable materials through CO2 reduction. Our research focuses on the nanostructuring of materials and the processing of porous layers, e.g. by electrospinning or templating. Synchrotron X-ray absorption spectroscopy allows us to study electrocatalysts in operation to elucidate activation, conditioning, degradation and reaction mechanisms in situ and operando.
