Practice makes perfect: How a scientific conference becomes the perfect testing ground for our MFC students
On Tuesday, September 26th, 15 students of materials science and engineering experienced a very special form of exam.
They took part in a specially organized conference to which, after submitting an abstract, they received an invitation to a poster presentation and lecture. The submitted abstract was based on a scientific article that the students were asked to study and from which they would learn about how the materials characterization methods they had heard of in the semester lectures are applied within scientific research.
They were then allowed to present “their” research in a few sessions filled with great lectures and posters, and the spirits of the students seemed overall relaxed. Naturally, like at real conferences, a chair was present at the sessions and, of course, the coffee and cookies weren’t missing either!
