Mina Attia did his MSc in Chemistry at Ruhr University Bochum, where he evaluated the electrocatalytic activity of different nanomaterials, including spinel oxide and pentlandite samples, towards fundamental reactions in renewable energy storage and conversion systems, such as Oxygen Evolution Reaction and Oxygen Reduction Reaction. Additionally, he studied the doping process of conductive polymers at both the ensemble and single nanoparticle levels employing the nano-impact technique. In 2021, he received his MSc degree for the thesis termed Evaluating the effect of Fe:Co ratio on the catalytic activity of Fe-Co spinel single nanoparticles towards industrially important oxidation reactions.
In 2022, he started his PhD in Prof. Roth’s group at the Chair of Electrochemical Process Engineering at the University of Bayreuth. His work focuses on studying CO2 electroreduction at surface-active porous Cu electrodes aiming to understand the mechanism of the catalytic processes involved, which is indispensable for the reaction optimization and upscaling.
