Record attendance at GDCh Electrochemistry 2026 in Bayreuth

Poster Session

From September 22 to 25, GDCh Electrochemistry 2026 took place at the University of Bayreuth, organized by Bayreuth’s electrochemists in collaboration with the Czech Chemical Society. With approximately 500 participants from 25 countries, the conference—organized by the German Chemical Society (GDCh)—set a record for attendance.

The scientific program included more than 400 presentations, including 200 oral presentations and 201 poster presentations. The focus was on current developments in electrochemistry, ranging from innovative battery materials and modern analytical methods for energy storage to electrosynthesis, power-to-X technologies, and the use of artificial intelligence in research.

“We are very pleased with the exceptionally positive response from the international scientific community,” emphasize the two conference chairs, Prof. Dr. Christina Roth and Prof. Dr. Roland Marschall. “The high turnout and the quality of the scientific presentations have demonstrated the dynamism currently present in electrochemistry and how important international exchange is for the development of new solutions in the areas of energy, sustainability, and industrial transformation.” In addition to the engaging scientific discussions, the two organizers were particularly pleased with the positive feedback from participants, who praised the “friendly atmosphere on what is clearly Germany’s most beautiful campus” and expressed their gratitude for “the spectacular dinner featuring traditional culinary delights and the dancing that followed in the Oberfrankenhalle.”
