Participation in the ELCAT Winter School in Antwerp
From 2 to 6 February, the ELCAT Winter School took place at the University of Antwerp, organised by Prof. Tom Breugelmans and his research group. The programme offered a varied mix of lectures on the basics of electrochemistry, application-oriented electrolysers for water and CO₂ electrolysis, practical exercises by Metrohm, and an introduction to the test benches at ELCAT. The week concluded with specialist presentations from industry (Siemens Energy, AGFA), which provided insights into the scaling and ramp-up of alkaline and PEM water electrolysers.
Throughout the week, doctoral students and postdocs from all over Europe were able to engage intensively with the world of H₂ and CO₂ electrolysis and network with each other. Carl Hartwig represented the LSWV and, in addition to gaining a wealth of technical knowledge, was also able to make new contacts.
In addition to the scientific programme, participants also had the opportunity to discover Antwerp's culture and cuisine – for example, at a joint dinner, a pub quiz or a visit to Chocolate Nation, which impressively showcased the diversity of Belgian chocolate.
