The inspiring setting of the historic Harnack House hosted the 3rd Symposium on Insights into Gas Diffusion Electrodes – From Fundamentals to Industrial Applications & Beyond the OER from September 2 to 4, 2025 – a high-profile event that brought together leading scientists from around the world. This event is a joint initiative of the DFG-funded research groups FOR 2397 (“Multiscale Analysis of Complex Three-Phase Systems – Oxygen and CO₂ Reduction”) and FOR 2982 (“Unusual Anode Reactions in Electrochemical Energy Conversion: Value Creation Instead of Oxygen Evolution in Hydrogen Production”).

A particular highlight was the keynote lecture by Prof. Christina Roth, who gave insights into current research approaches and their industrial relevance with her presentation “Transferring Insights Obtained on 2D Metal Foams Synthesized by Dynamic Hydrogen Bubble Templating to 3D Gas Diffusion Electrodes.

Michael Schuster presented his poster entitled “Investigation of Catalytic Ink Formulations for use in Slot-die Coating for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Electrodes” – an exciting contribution to the further development of efficient fuel cell technologies.
